Shakir Rehmatullah
Flato Developments Inc.
Honourary Patron of Flato Markham Theatre
Founded by Shakir Rehmatullah in 2005, FLATO Developments is a land developer and builder of residential homes, low rise and high rise buildings as well as commercial developments. FLATO has quickly established a reputation for paying meticulous attention to the finest details, whether it be how to seamlessly integrate a new neighbourhood into the existing community fabric, to offering distinctive architecture and design flourishes, and going above and beyond to ensure 100-per-cent customer satisfaction. It’s an impressive reputation, and one the company strives to exceed with every new community-building initiative.
FLATO Developments focuses on community building and land development, with both residential and mixed-use developments. With a full portfolio of designs, from townhomes and semis to luxury singles, mid-rise & high-rise condominium residences and commercial real estate, FLATO Developments is continuously growing and building across and outside the GTA.
FLATO is currently building quality homes and communities in Oakville, Caledon, Brampton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, New Tecumseth, and Southgate. In FLATO’s expansive presence across the GTA, FLATO is establishing the highly prized communities of Greenridge and Beeton Village in New Tecumseth, and Edgewood Green and Carriage House master-planned communities in the Village of Dundalk. FLATO is developing lands in Markham, Dundalk, Kawartha Lakes, Shelburne, Caledon, Owen Sound and Mississauga.
“Giving back to the community where we build is important to me” - Shakir Rehmatullah.
A house is about more than just the bricks and mortar. It’s about the neighbourhood, local parks, convenient amenities and a sense of community. For FLATO Developments, designing and building a master-planned community begins by creating a sense of place and a strong connection to the community.
“We believe that building communities is more than just building homes,” said Shakir Rehmatullah, President of FLATO Developments.
“That is why we strive to create dynamic and vibrant neighbourhoods, for homeowners at all stages of their lives, while giving back to the communities we operate and build in.”
Since its founding in 2005, FLATO has been committed to supporting charities and causes in places where FLATO operates and builds new communities.
From giving to local hospitals and clinics to promoting arts and culture, FLATO is dedicated to positive change in our communities. FLATO has actively supported arts, healthcare, foodbanks and others in the community.
FLATO is the Honourary Patron of the FLATO Markham Theatre. FLATO was the first to partner with the FLATO Markham Theatre and was given the naming rights to the Theatre.
FLATO has committed a $1.375 M donation over the next 15 years to help the Academy Theatre in Lindsay plan for sustainable, long-term growth. The theatre has a long history of bringing together incredible performing artists and audiences from all walks of life. This theatre is now named the FLATO Academy Theatre Lindsay.
FLATO has committed $100K to Streams Community Hub, an arts-centered, youth-focused, federally incorporated charity, to contribute to the building and operation of a new creative centre in the Town of Shelburne. The funding represents the first of its kind to build a new arts centre at Fiddle Park. The creative hub, to be named the FLATO Performance Hall, will function as a shared space for community events, social enterprise development, business incubation and a safe social place for youth.
FLATO built the Shakir Rehmatullah Cancer Clinic of Markham Stouffville Hospital. FLATO also actively supports Markdale Hospital in Grey County, and its lobby now bears the name FLATO Developments, as well as the South East Grey Community Health Centre, Headwaters Hospital in Dufferin County, Stevenson Memorial Hospital in New Tecumseth, and Ross Memorial Hospital in Kawartha Lakes.
Recently, FLATO contributed $1 million to the FLATO Dundalk Community Health Centre; this gift will help build a full service health clinic in Dundalk, Ont., that will provide greater access to healthcare services in Grey County.
FLATO supports Run for Vaughan, which supports the Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and was instrumental in the creation of the Shakir Rehmatullah Cancer Clinic at the Markham Stouffville Hospital.
